DID YOU KNOW?

RESEARCH SHOWS DANCE HAS MANY BENEFITS FOR CHILDREN!

  • PHYSICAL BENEFITS: Regular participation in dance can increase a child's flexibility, range of motion, physical strength and stamina. The repetitive movements involved in dance can improve muscle tone, correct poor posture, increase balance and coordination and improve overall health

  • EMOTIONAL BENEFITS: Dance can encourage children to foster a more positive attitude towards themselves and explore their own self-expression.  The physical movement of dance helps reduce stress, anxiety and depression. Dancing with other children also helps build social connections.

  • SOCIAL benefits: Dance can help children improve their social and communication skills, learn how to work as part of a team, develop a greater sense of cooperation and make new friends. Through dance, children develop enhanced sensory awareness and learn nonverbal communication, which represents two thirds of all social communication.

  • COGNITIVE benefits: Dance can help to spark creativity in young children and help them to develop an appreciation for the arts.  Children strengthen their cognitive abilities and memory skills through learning choreography. Research has even shown that children who regularly participate in dance lessons typically tend to perform better academically than their nonparticipating peers.

The dedication, discipline and focus children must learn and practice through dance training are important life skills that will carryover over to school, work and all aspects of their lives.

CLASS OPTIONS FOR TINY DANCERS

BANNER - Wee & Mommy & Me.png

would you enjoy some special one - on - one time with your busy TODDLER?

TWO class OPTIONS: Mommy & Me or Wee-Move

Both of these classes are parent / guardian interactive classes that introduce the tiniest of dancers to basic dance foundations... rhythm, stretching, counting, moving to the music and more. With the use of props such as tambourines, ribbon rings, parachutes, balls and more, dancers explore a wide range of creative movement and musicality exercises and games. Parents, grandparents or guardians will participate in dancing and assisting their dancer while also making special memories to last a lifetime!  Each class ends with a freestyle "dance party"!

Mommy & Me classes generally take place during the weekday mornings.

Wee-Move classes generally take place on weekday evenings.

The curriculum and class structure is the same for both classes.

{Please note that these classes are offered based on interest and may not be offered every session}

Do you have a tiny dancer twirling about the house?

Or a preschooler who is always singing and skipping?

Our Taps & Twirls program is designed specifically for children aged 3 & 4 and uses a curriculum focused on building coordination, flexibility, musicality and encouraging self-expression... all in a FUN environment. In addition to the physical benefits of dance training, students learn valuable life lessons such as cooperation, self-control & discipline.

Dancers will alternate each week working between Tap technique one week and Ballet technique the next.

Kindergarten aged dancers are learning and growing! And with growth comes choices!  This specially designed program features two combo class options: a traditional Ballet/Tap Combo and an exciting Jazz/Hip Hop Combo. Taking both classes will develop a strong dance foundation!

The Ballet/Tap Combo Class will alternate between Ballet and Tap each week focusing on technique, terminology and challenging the dancers' rhythm and coordination. The Jazz/Hip Hop Combo Class will develop Hip Hop and Jazz basics focusing on increasing flexibility, learning body isolations and jazz technical basics, and encouraging self expression through dance.

While the curriculum and styles are different, the main ingredient for both classes is FUN!

Choose the class combination that best fits your dancer or even better...

CHOOSE BOTH!

JUMP START YOUR CHILD'S FLEXIBILITY & COORDINATION

It's not too early to get your 4 - 6 year old on the mat to begin working on strength & flexibility skills that are foundational for Tumbling and Acro. MDM is an Acrobatic Arts certified studio and follows the Acrobatic Arts progressive curriculum for preschool and elementary aged children.

The Acrobatic Arts Preschool curriculum focuses on physical literacy. This is not a program designed to teach young students back handsprings and walkovers! You can expect to find skills like: Pike Position, Skipping, Marching, Pre Cartwheel, Plié, Tendu, etc. The focus of this program includes learning the acro positions, locomotive skills (jumping, hoping, etc), balance skills, classroom behaviour skills, movement concepts, cooperation and social skills. The magic is in the repetition, the report cards, coloring pages, imaginary play, fun and games.
